“Our Favorite Places” PDF Print E-mail

The first member meeting of 2012 was a huge success in the beautiful setting of the renovated Bear Mountain Inn.

One of the topics brought up was to have a list of painting places on the web site.  The Park has beautiful areas that people would like to find.  A request from interested members was to share their favorite painting spots.   If you would like to share and/or meet at these areas please send information on the name of the area, where to park, the path to take, how far from the car, and a description of the spot.  If you want to meet for "paint outs" check our facebook group http://www.facebook.com/groups/143756071634/  To summit your stories or information  email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Been scouting out likely painting sites; yesterday in Harriman found the boat launch at Sebago off 7 Lakes Drive; nice view there & friendly fishermen. Also like the visitor's center at Sterling Forest (rest rooms plus nice view) Today got to Ross Dock about noon - eh - but the Henry Hudson drive, Englewood boat basin, Alpine boat basin all lovely. Looking forward to sunny days.

Spring is in the air PDF Print E-mail

Spring is in the air, in the trees, and on the ground.  This year spring has arrived early with hardly a winter.   The snow shovels, snow boots, heavy coats worn once, if that, can all be put away.  And out with the spring jackets and cameras, plein air easels, and paints.   The buds are pushing out of the limbs and up from the ground.   But there are early spring arrivals that have been out for a while now.   The witch hazel has been in full bloom since January, the hellebores and snowdrops since February.  With no snow to cover all these treasures and with the warm weather it is time to get out and enjoy this very unusual weather.

Here are a few photos from my garden to help spirit us out.
