Artists in the Parks (AiP) is a program of the Palisades Interstate Park Commission (PIPC) that positions artists as essential partners in the conservation, education, and community initiatives of parks. This program creates opportunities for creative growth and public exposure for local artists, and encourages artistic exploration of the Palisades region. In all that we do, we aim to nurture a love, understanding, and respect for the natural world.

“The overwhelming and fantastic response to AiP seems to me proof that a program such as this was just waiting to come into the world so that the talented artists in our region could have a chance to partner with the Park system to conserve and protect the beautiful land in our region.” writes Erica Nagel, AiP co-Founder.  This is a group at the cusp of doing amazing things for both artists and the parks they love. These guys are sharp, dedicated, and talented” writes Timothy Englert AiP Liaison.

"Hooked on the Hook" a great success! PDF Print E-mail

The PIPC Artists in the Parks  proudly  partnered with Keep Rockland Beautiful, Inc at their June 13th  event, “Hooked on the Hook,” a celebration of Hook Mountain, art, the Hudson River, and the environmental mission of Keep Rockland Beautiful.

The day-long paintout was excellent and the evening’s event was a great success.  The Power House Gallery (bath house) was transformed from a cold, damp and gloomy space into breathtaking, vibrant and eye-opening wonder!  The old rafters and adorned wooden balcony framed our paintings beautifully and in-turn the amazing works of art added life to a long-standing building that has been waiting for us awaken her.

AiP members displayed 55 incredible pieces of art and sold 23, totaling $3,620. in sales, contributing $1,448. to the PIPC and AiP.  All of this would not have been possible if not for all of the participating artists and immense help from leadership board members Lita Thorne, Bruce Thorne, Marylyn Vanderpool and Marge Morales and PIPC Liason Tim Englert.

Says AiP president Lita Thorne, "We worked tirelessly for days, learned a lot from our efforts and can guarantee the next event will be twice as successful!"

Proceeds from the art auction will support the restoration of the Bath House, enhancing the site for picnics and events.
